Resources
MAS 9 on OpenShift
Deployment Resource Library
A complete technical reference for architects, platform engineers, and storage administrators deploying IBM Maximo Application Suite 9 on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform with NetApp Trident as the persistent storage provider. Free to use — no account required.
The Stack
Resources
Four interlinked resources. Start with the Deployment Reference, work through the Checklist during delivery, keep the Trident Config open for YAML, and iterate sizing in the Calculator.
Deployment Reference
Architecture overview, version matrix, node sizing, storage classes, environment variants (bare metal, VMware, AWS FSx, air-gapped), and the full phased installation sequence.
Pre-Deployment Checklist
Eight phases mirroring the install sequence with interactive checkboxes and per-phase progress tracking. Work through each phase in order before proceeding.
Trident Configuration Reference
Working YAML for every resource needed — operator subscription, TridentOrchestrator, NAS/SAN/NVMe backends, StorageClasses, VolumeSnapshotClass, smoke tests, and troubleshooting.
Interactive Sizing Calculator
Enter your app mix, user count, and IoPoints to get live cluster sizing, storage requirements (Year 1 and Year 3), and an environment-specific bill of materials.
Who This Is For
This library assumes comfort with Kubernetes, OpenShift, and enterprise storage concepts. It is written for:
- Platform engineers — responsible for standing up the underlying OpenShift cluster
- Storage administrators — configuring ONTAP and the Trident CSI provider
- MAS application owners — coordinating application-layer deployment and ongoing operations
- Solution architects — validating sizing and architecture during pre-sales or design
Version Assumptions
Content is aligned to the versions below. Always verify against vendor interoperability matrices at the time of your deployment.
| MAS Core | 9.0.x |
| OpenShift | 4.14, 4.15, 4.16 (4.16 recommended for new deployments) |
| Trident | 25.06.1 or later |
| ONTAP | 9.12.1 or later |
| RHEL CoreOS | Matches OpenShift version — managed automatically |
The supported software matrix evolves with each point release. Running an unsupported combination will invalidate vendor support agreements. Check the IBM MAS release notes and the NetApp Interoperability Matrix (IMT) before purchasing or deploying.
