Licensed activity

This module runs licensed activity. You can read about it here, but it cannot be turned on until the licenses below are on file and a second reviewer has verified each one with the issuing agency.

  • ·the state or local agency that issued your contractor license -- contracting for residential painting work in that state, as the license you hold defines it.
  • ·the insurance carrier (or the agent who placed the policy) named on your certificate of insurance -- working in customers' homes with general liability coverage in force, as shown on a current certificate of insurance.
  • ·the workers' compensation carrier (or the agent who placed the policy) named on your certificate of insurance -- putting employees on a job site with workers' compensation coverage in force. Required when the company has employees.

Walkthrough estimates on a phone: rooms and exterior elevations, doors and windows subtracted

Labor from your own production rates and paint by color and sheen, rounded to real containers

Good / Better / Best proposals the homeowner signs online and pays a deposit on through your own processor

Color schedules kept with the property, approved by the homeowner, printable for the crew

Lead-safe pamphlet acknowledgment captured for homes built before 1978

About this module

Add each room and side of the house on your phone: length, width and wall height, or the wall area outside, with doors and windows taken off. Pick the surfaces, coats, prep and colors. Labor comes from your own production rates for each surface and prep level, paint is totaled by color and sheen and rounded to the quarts, gallons and pails you would actually buy, and the price lands at the margin you set. Photos of each room stay with the estimate.

Send three options instead of one number. Good, Better and Best each change the paint grade, coats, prep or what is included, and you rename and reprice them as you like. The homeowner opens a proposal in your company's name, picks one, signs, and pays the deposit on the same page through your own payment processor. A signed version is frozen, so what they agreed to is exactly what you both have. Accepting creates the job in Field Service and gives the homeowner a Turtini account that keeps the proposal and their colors.

For homes built before 1978, the proposal shows the lead-safe renovation requirement and records the homeowner's pamphlet acknowledgment with their signature. Your certifications appear as your company provides them; you stay responsible for them.

Painting switches on once your contractor license, where your state issues one, and your general liability and workers' compensation insurance are on file and checked by a Turtini reviewer. If a certificate lapses, new proposals wait until you file the renewal.

What you can do with it

  • Measure four rooms and an exterior elevation and see the labor, paint and price before you leave

  • Offer a homeowner a standard, premium and top-line option and let them choose

  • Collect a 30 percent deposit the moment the proposal is signed

  • Find the exact color and sheen for a touch-up years later, and print it for the crew
