Entering your tax info (SSN and home address)
If you're a worker in an org that runs the Workforce module, you'll be asked to enter your payroll tax info — your home address and your Social Security Number (SSN). This is what lets your employer run your payroll and prepare your tax forms and paystubs.
Where the prompt appears:
• A "Payroll setup" prompt pops up shortly after you sign in — the first time, and again on later logins until you've entered your info. You can dismiss it with "I'll do it later" and it will come back next time.
• You can also open it any time from the Tax Info tab in your Work profile. Open your profile, then switch to the Tax Info tab.
What you enter:
• Home address — street address, apartment or suite (optional), city, state, and ZIP. This is used on your paystubs and tax forms.
• Social Security Number — your 9-digit SSN. Enter it once; after that you'll only ever see a masked confirmation.
Your privacy — what's actually guaranteed:
• Only you can see your SSN. It is encrypted the moment you submit it and is never shown to your employer. Your employer only ever sees a masked last-4 (for example, •••-••-1234) so they can confirm it's on file — never the full number.
• Your home address stays private by default. It is shared with your employer only if you turn on "Share my home address with [your org]." That toggle is off by default. When you turn it on, your employer can see your address for mailing paystubs, W-2s, and gear. You can turn it back off later.
• Your SSN is never shared even when you opt in to share your address.
To save:
1. Fill in your home address.
2. Enter your SSN.
3. Optionally tick "Share my home address" if you want your employer to have it for mailings.
4. Click Save. Your SSN is encrypted before it's stored, and you'll see a "Only you can see this" confirmation with the masked last-4.
If you ever need to update your SSN or address, return to the Tax Info tab in your Work profile.
