QR shift check-in and the Live Staff map
QR shift check-in lets a worker or volunteer clock in by scanning a posted QR code on their own phone — and while they're on shift, their position shows on a live map for your managers, colour-coded by role.
Why their own phone: a shared kiosk can't tell where one person is. Scanning the placard on their phone makes that phone the location source for their shift, so each person plots as their own dot.
Set it up (Workforce → Live Staff, owners/admins):
1. Under "Check-in placards", type where the placard goes — e.g. "Main Gate", "Volunteer Tent" — and click "+ Placard".
2. Click "Print" on the placard and post it where staff arrive.
3. Optionally set role colours just above, and choose who can see the map under "Who can see the map".
What a worker does:
• Scan the placard with their phone camera and open the link. If they're not signed in, they sign in once and come back automatically.
• They see their name, role, and shift, then tap "Check in & share location". That clocks them in and starts sharing.
• They keep the screen on while working. Sharing stops automatically when they clock out (anywhere), when they tap "Stop sharing", or if the page closes.
Reading the map (Workforce → Live Staff → "On shift now"):
• Marker FILL colour = staffing role (e.g. Security red, Medic green). Override any colour under "Role colours".
• Marker SHAPE = worker type: employee = dot, volunteer = ringed dot, contractor = diamond.
• A unit drops off the map the moment its signal lapses, so what you see is who's actually live.
Who can see it:
• "Managers only" (default) keeps positions inside your team.
• "Event link" / "Public" also show staff on the bound event's /live-fleet map — useful for a festival ops board. Set the event id when you pick those.
