Request and manage leave of absence (FMLA)
Leave of absence is distinct from PTO — it covers FMLA, parental, medical, military, personal, and bereavement leave. The **Leave** tab on /workforce handles both sides.
Workers request a leave for themselves: pick a type, set start and end dates, mark it intermittent if the time is taken in pieces, and add a reason. Owners, admins, and HR review requests and track each worker's remaining entitlement.
FMLA entitlement is tracked on a **rolling 12-month** window — usage is measured against the trailing year, not a fixed calendar year — and intermittent leave draws down the same balance hour by hour. The tab shows entitlement used and remaining so approvers can see what a request will consume before they approve it.
Every worker can reach the Leave tab to file a request; review and entitlement management are gated to admins/HR.
