Org chart and reporting structure

The org chart shows your reporting structure visually — who reports to whom, how teams roll up, and where reporting gaps exist. Workforce → Org Chart.

Auto-inferred from data:
The chart is built from worker records — each worker has a "Reports to" field pointing to their manager. The platform also infers structure from:
• Approver chains on PTO and expense reports
• Direct reports on existing managers
• Team assignments

To set or correct reporting:
1. Workforce → People → click worker
2. "Reports to" field — pick a manager (any other active worker)
3. Save — the org chart re-renders immediately

Visualization:
• Tree view from the top of the org down
• Click a node to expand/collapse that branch
• Colored by department (if departments are set)
• Hover for worker tooltip with role, location, photo
• Drag a node to a different parent to reassign reporting (admin only)

Departments:
Set a department on each worker (Engineering, Sales, etc.) and the chart groups visually. Departments are also used for utilization heatmaps in the Planning portfolio dashboard.

Multi-CEO / multi-root:
If your org has co-leaders or no single CEO, leave their "Reports to" blank — they appear as siblings at the top of the chart.

Capacity dashboard (Workforce → Capacity):
Combines the org chart with workload (assigned tasks from Planning, hours from Time Tracking) to show who's underloaded vs overloaded. Drill into any node to see their task list.

Export:
Click "Export PNG" or "Export PDF" for a snapshot you can drop into a deck or share with leadership.
