Book a cabin on a sailing — deposit now, pay the balance later

A sailing is sold by cabin category with a deposit-then-balance schedule. Book from Voyages → Sailings → open the sailing → Book a Cabin (guests use the same flow on your public site).

Booking:
1. Pick the cabin category and the number of guests (capped at the category's berth count).
2. Enter the buyer's name and email and each guest's name.
3. The fare panel shows the occupancy breakdown, the cabin total, the deposit due now, and the balance with its due date.
4. Take deposit opens the card step. The deposit is charged on your connected Stripe account (you are the merchant of record) — never a bare Stripe link. A cabin is held for you the moment checkout starts, so a paid deposit can always be honored.
5. When the deposit clears, the booking is confirmed and one cabin moves from held to booked.

Paying the balance:
The confirmed booking shows its payment schedule. When the balance comes due, use Pay balance on the booking (guests do the same from their confirmation) to pay it by card. Off-session auto-charging of the balance is a later phase — for v1 the balance is guest-initiated.

Cancelling:
Cancel booking on the row refunds any paid installments and releases the cabin back into the pool. Refunds go back to the original card on your connected account.

Note: taking deposits and setting allocation requires the maritime service to be configured for your environment. Until then the catalog (sailings, itineraries, cabin types, fares) is fully editable and the deposit step is disabled with a notice.
