Downloads are scanned before they reach your Mac

Every file you download is checked for safety before it lands in your Downloads folder — the same idea as the platform scanning every image an org uploads.

How a download works:
1. When a page starts a download, the browser holds the file in a private, quarantined spot — not your Downloads folder yet.
2. A small pill appears showing the file's progress, then its result.
3. Only a file that passes the scan is moved into your Downloads folder.

What the pill tells you:
- Scanning… — the check is still running.
- Saved — the file passed and is now in your Downloads folder.
- Saved without full scan — the file was saved, but the full check couldn't be reached, so we don't claim it's clean. Open it with care.
- Blocked — the file was flagged (for example, a program that could run on your Mac) and deleted. It never reached your Downloads folder.

Your Downloads folder only ever holds files that made it through, so you don't have to second-guess what's in there.
