Telling us you are a young person’s parent or guardian
Before you can approve anything on behalf of someone under 13, we confirm that you really are their parent or guardian. This is a one-time step. Once it is done, you can give approvals for that young person whenever they are needed.
**Why we do not just take your word for it.** The approval you give later is what allows a child's profile to be shared with organizations outside their own team. If anyone could claim to be a parent, that approval would not mean anything — so a person at Turtini checks the claim before it counts.
How to do it:
1. Go to **/me/athlete** and find **Young people you look after**.
2. Choose **I look after someone under 13**.
3. Enter their account ID, say how you are related to them (mother, father, legal guardian), and attach a link to something that shows it — a birth certificate, a custody order, or a school record naming you.
4. Choose **Send for review**.
Your claim then shows as **Waiting to be checked**. Someone at Turtini opens what you attached and either confirms it or comes back to you. When it says **Confirmed**, you are done — move on to giving the approval itself.
**Nothing happens while it is waiting.** A claim on its own grants no access and allows no sharing. Only a confirmed relationship does.
**Withdrawing.** You can withdraw a relationship at any time from the same place. If you had already given an approval for that young person, it is withdrawn at the same time and they are removed from the talent network immediately — a withdrawal that left the sharing in place would not be a withdrawal.
**A note on the young person's own screen.** Under-13s cannot give this approval for themselves, and cannot name their own approver. That is the whole point of the step.
