Promotions, markdowns, and scheduled price changes
Promotions are markdowns that apply themselves at the register — no codes, no remembering which items are on sale. Manage them on the Merchandising tab.
To create a promotion:
1. Go to Retail → Merchandising
2. Click "+ New promotion" and name it
3. Choose what it applies to: the whole store, a category, or a single product
4. Choose the discount type:
• % off — a percentage off the price
• $ off — a fixed amount off
• Set price to — overrides the price to an exact amount (use this for scheduled price changes by setting a future start date)
5. Set the start and end dates
6. Make sure "Active" is checked, and Save
How it shows up at the register:
When a cashier rings up an item with a live promotion, the cart shows the original price struck through with the sale price beside it in green, and a "Promotions" line in the totals shows the total saved. The applied promotion is recorded on the order for reporting. If two promotions could apply to the same item, the customer gets the lowest price.
Each promotion card shows whether it's Active, Scheduled (starts in the future), or Expired, plus how many products it affects. Because promotions are visible on your public storefront, sale prices also appear on Builder product blocks.
You can ask Wally to create a promotion for you — just say what it applies to, the discount, and the end date.
