Handing a delivery to a courier service
You can hand a delivery order to a courier service instead of driving it yourself. Read the limits below before you rely on it — they are real and they are stated on the screen too.
What is supported today:
DoorDash Drive. You connect your credential, ask for a quote, and dispatch. You can refresh the status and cancel.
Uber Direct is not integrated. There is no client for it, so nothing can be sent to it, and the settings screen says so rather than showing you a button that would do nothing.
Connecting:
Restaurant -> Settings -> Delivery and curbside -> "Someone else's driver" -> Connect. Paste the three values from your DoorDash developer portal. They are stored in the platform credential vault, not on your restaurant record, and they are never shown again.
Quoting before you send:
Quote and Dispatch are separate buttons on purpose. The courier's price is not your delivery fee — you set what the customer pays, the courier charges you what they charge, and the gap is yours to see. The board shows both figures side by side.
Status is checked when you ask, not pushed to us:
There is no live feed from the courier. The board shows when it last checked and has a Refresh button; press it to re-read the courier. A row that says "Checked 4 min ago" is telling you the truth about how fresh it is. We would rather say that than show you a status that looks live and is not.
If a dispatch fails:
You see the courier's own refusal, in their words, and the order stays undispatched. Nothing is recorded as sent unless the courier gave us a delivery number back. An order that did not go anywhere never reads as though it did.
Cancelling:
"Cancel courier" asks the courier to cancel. If they refuse — usually because a driver already has the food — the order stays dispatched, because it is dispatched. We will not flip a local flag to say otherwise while somebody is driving.
You do not have to use any of this. A delivery order with no courier connected simply sits on the "Out for delivery" board with the address and the phone number, for you to drive.
