Auto-fill unit square footage from public records
When you click into a unit and it doesn't have square footage on file yet, Property Operations checks public records for the address (Rentcast plus local sources) and surfaces a "use 2,400 sqft from public records" CTA next to the missing value.
Click the CTA to apply the suggestion. The number stays editable — if your records say something different, click the value to enter it manually. Once a unit has a sqft value, the suggestion goes away.
Why this matters:
- Per-square-foot dues and rent computations need an accurate sqft.
- Inspection scheduling, energy benchmarking, and any future capacity calculations all depend on it.
- Hand-entering sqft for 200 units is tedious and error-prone; public records are usually within 5%.
Note: Square footage from public records is a starting point, not gospel. If the unit has been remodeled, finished a basement, or absorbed an adjacent unit, you'll need to update it manually.
