Moving, docking and resizing panels

The side panels in the email composer, Builder, Docs, Email Signatures, 3D Studio, Game Builder and Mail can be resized, moved to the other side of the screen, docked along the bottom (where the editor has room for it), and collapsed to the edge.

Resize a panel:
1. Point at the thin seam between the panel and the main area, then drag it.
2. Double-click the seam to switch between the standard width and a wide working width.
3. Or click the seam (or Tab to it) and use the arrow keys: each press changes the width a little. Home makes it as wide as it goes, End as narrow, and Delete puts back the standard width.
While you drag, the edge snaps to the standard width, the wide width, and the width of the other panels, so two panels can be made exactly the same size. Press Escape mid-drag to put the size back.

Move and dock a panel:
1. Press and hold the panel's header (its name, with the dotted grip beside it) and drag.
2. The places it can dock light up: the left edge, the right edge and, in the email composer, 3D Studio and Game Builder, the bottom.
3. Let go over one of them. The panel snaps into that spot, next to any panel already there. Letting go in the middle of the screen leaves it where it was, and Escape cancels the move.

From the keyboard: Tab to the panel's header, then press Left or Right to dock it on that side, or Down to dock it along the bottom. Up brings a bottom panel back to its side. Press Enter on the header for the panel menu, which has Move to the left side, Move to the right side, Move to the bottom, Move left or right past a neighbor, Collapse to edge, Restore standard size and Reset layout. Each change is read out by screen readers.

Collapse a panel: click the small arrow at the right of its header. The panel shrinks to a slim tab along the edge with its name on it; click the tab to bring it back. Anything you were in the middle of typing is still there.

Start over: choose Reset layout from a panel's menu to put every panel in that editor back where it started, at its standard size. To reset every editor at once, go to your avatar, then Settings, then Preferences, then Panel sizes, and choose Restore standard panel sizes.

Your layout is saved to your account automatically as you go (there is no save button), and sizes are kept as a share of the window, so the layout looks the same on a laptop and a large monitor. On a phone, a tablet in portrait, or the desktop browser's side panel, each editor keeps its usual one-pane layout and panels do not move.
