Baselines — snapshot the plan, track drift
A baseline freezes the current plan in time so you can see how much it has shifted since.
Saving a baseline:
1. Open the Timeline tab
2. Click "+ Save baseline" in the controls bar
3. Give it a descriptive label, e.g. "Approved scope, board sign-off" or "Q2 kickoff plan"
4. Click Save
The first baseline becomes active automatically. Switch the active baseline anytime via the picker in the controls bar.
What an active baseline shows you:
• A thin grey ghost bar appears at the bottom of every task and phase row showing where the baseline captured it. Eye drift = real drift.
• The Overview tab gains a "Baseline drift" tile: how many tasks are ahead, behind, and the maximum slip in days.
• When exporting a status report, drift is one of the optional sections.
Best practice: save a baseline at the major decision points — initial approval, after a scope change, at each quarter. Keep the count small (3–6 baselines per project max); compare against the most recent or most relevant.
Wally can save baselines too: "Snapshot a baseline called 'Approved scope, board sign-off'" — confirm-first action card.
