Permits & Approvals — what you need to go live

Standing up an event, a build, or a storefront usually means a permit or two — and the hardest part is knowing WHO to call and WHAT they'll ask for. Permits & Approvals (open it at /permits, or in the menu under "Permits") names the offices, tells you what they want, how early to apply, and drafts your first email.

It meets you where the work is: on your /welcome cockpit for every org, in Events (running an event), in BuildOS (building or renovating — using the job site's location), and in Restaurant/Retail (opening a location). On the /permits page you can switch between Event, Building, and Business yourself.

How it works:
• Tell us about what you're planning — tap the chips for outdoors, on public property, serving alcohol, serving food, amplified sound, closing a street, tents/staging — and pick an expected-attendance band.
• We instantly show the permits that likely apply, each with the issuing authority, their official site, what they'll want from you, and how far ahead to apply.
• For each one, tap "Draft intro email" to get a ready-to-send first message to that office.

We use your organization's city and state (from Account settings) to localize. We've mapped a growing set of states — starting with Virginia and expanding outward — and give general guidance everywhere else. When a state isn't curated yet, we still name the right TYPE of office to contact.

This is general guidance to help you start the conversation — not legal advice. The issuing authority always makes the final call on what your event requires, which is exactly why we point you straight at them.
