Tithes & Offerings and recurring giving
The Tithes & Offerings block lets a giver give once or on a schedule (weekly, twice a month on the 1st and 15th, or monthly), choose an amount and a fund, and pay on your organization's own processor.
Setting it up:
1. Turn on the Nonprofit module from the module directory.
2. Nonprofit -> Donations -> Recurring giving: list your funds (for example Tithe, Offering, Building fund, Missions) and, if your organization is a qualified charity, check "Gifts are tax-deductible". Save.
3. Builder -> your Give page -> + Add Block -> Tithes & Offerings. Edit the heading, preset amounts, which schedules to offer, and the default.
4. Publish.
What givers see:
- Give once works with any card, and with Cash App Pay where your processor offers it.
- A recurring gift is card only. Before the card is saved, the giver reads and accepts the authorization: the amount, how often, and that it continues until they cancel. The first gift is charged right away.
- Every gift sends a receipt with the fund, amount, date, the next gift date, and a link to manage the gift. From that link the giver can change the amount, schedule or fund, update their card, or cancel in one step. No Turtini account is needed.
If a card is declined:
The giver is emailed and the gift is retried three days later. After three declines in a row the gift pauses, nothing more is charged, and your owners and admins are told. When the giver updates their card from the link, the gift resumes and the missed gift is collected.
Your view:
Nonprofit -> Donations -> Recurring giving lists every recurring giver, their next gift date and what they have given this year, with totals by fund. You can pause, resume or cancel a gift when a giver asks you to. Each gift is also recorded as a donation on the giver's Contact and appears on their year-end giving statement when your giving is marked tax-deductible.
Processors:
Depending on your processor, Turtini either schedules the charges itself (an hourly check charges each gift at 9 AM in your organization's time zone) or uses the processor's own subscriptions. Twice-monthly giving is offered where Turtini schedules the charges.
