Turning on a notification sound
Turtini can play a short chime when something new lands in your notification badge — a chat message, a mention, or an assignment. It is off by default; you turn it on per person, on your own account. Find it under Settings in the Notifications tab, in the Notification sound card.
Choosing a sound:
Pick one of the options — Off, Ping (one soft tone), Chime (two rising bell notes), Marimba (a warm wooden double-tap), or Rise (three ascending notes). Each has a preview button so you can hear it before you choose. Your choice saves as soon as you pick it.
Good to know:
- You will not hear a sound for a message in the conversation you already have open.
- The very first chime of a session may be silent until you have interacted with the page — browsers require a click before they allow sound.
- Sound stays off when your device is set to reduce motion.
The same Notifications tab also controls when you are notified about group and org mentions; direct mentions of you always notify.
