Loan or deaccession an object
The **Loans** tab handles objects leaving the building — temporarily or for good.
**Temporary loan** (exhibition or long-term): the borrower gains a permission to display the object, but ownership and the object's entire record stay with you, and it returns. Pick the object, the borrowing org's id, the loan type, and a due-back date, then **File loan**. The object shows as on-loan; click **Mark returned** on its dossier when it comes home.
**Permanent disposition** (sale, gift, repatriation, transfer): ownership moves. The object — and its full provenance, conservation, and condition history — follows to the receiving institution. This is permissions over copies: nothing is duplicated, the record simply re-points to the new owner.
A disposition is high-trust because it hands ownership to another organization. Wally can file either kind for you, but it always shows an action card to confirm first.
