Parts genealogy — serial tracking and failure correlation
The Parts tab tracks individual serial-numbered components across their entire life: manufactured, tested, installed, used, removed, retired.
Per part you see:
- Serial + lot + manufacturer
- **Genealogy timeline** — every event in this part's life across every vehicle and mission
- Test results and maintenance actions
- Installation history (which vehicle, which subsystem, when removed)
- Failure history — including failures of OTHER parts in the same lot (early-warning signal)
To add a part:
- Parts tab → "+ Register part" — serial, lot, manufacturer, type, install destination
- Or bulk-import from a manufacturer's pedigree CSV
Failure correlation:
- When a part is logged as failed, the system surfaces other parts from the same lot installed on other vehicles — "lot ABC-2024-Q3 has now seen 3 failures in 47 units; flag remaining 44 for inspection."
Wally tool `mission_partGenealogy` accepts a serial number and returns the timeline — useful during anomaly investigation ("Wally, what's the history on part SN-A42-9921?").
