Using the Interactive Sizing Calculator

The Sizing Calculator takes your application mix and scale parameters as inputs and computes live cluster sizing, storage requirements, and a bill of materials. All outputs update instantly as you change inputs.

Input sections:

Environment
• Deployment tier — Production, Staging, or Dev/Test (affects recommendations)
• Environment type — Bare Metal + NetApp, VMware + NetApp, AWS FSx for ONTAP, or Air-Gapped
• Safety/overhead factor — multiplier applied to base CPU and memory (1.25 is standard for production)
• HA tolerance — number of worker nodes that can fail simultaneously without impacting capacity

MAS Applications — toggle each app on or off. Only enabled apps contribute to sizing.

Scale Parameters
• Concurrent users — peak concurrent Manage users
• Total assets managed — total asset count for Manage/Health
• Monitor IoPoints — total IoPoints for Monitor (each IoPoint generates ~300 bytes/min)
• Monitor retention (days) — drives Monitor Db2 Warehouse storage sizing
• MVI dataset and model counts — drive Visual Inspection storage
• Data growth rate — used to project Year 3 storage

Worker Node Shape — set the vCPU, memory, and usable core count for your worker nodes to get an accurate node count.

Outputs:
• Compute — required vCPU, memory, base worker count, and workers with HA headroom
• Storage — Year 1 and Year 3 totals, RWO/RWX split, performance tier, and ONTAP usable capacity
• Full Cluster — control plane + infrastructure + workers summary
• Environment-specific recommendations — configuration guidance for your selected environment
• Bill of Materials — filtered BOM showing required items for your environment
