Read and send mail in Turtini webmail

Webmail is where you read and send mail for the Turtini mailboxes you hold, without setting up a mail app.

To open it, choose Mail in the menu (/mail/inbox). If your organization has given you a mailbox, it opens on your inbox; if you are on a shared address's member list, that mailbox is listed too.

Writing and replying:
1. Press Compose, or open a conversation and press Reply, Reply all or Forward.
2. Choose who it is from. A shared address you may send from appears in the From list.
3. Type the recipients; people and contacts from your organization are suggested as you type.
4. Press Send. For a few seconds afterward you can press Undo and the message comes back as a draft, unsent.

Drafts save as you type. Press Preview to see exactly what recipients will receive, including your signature and any footer your organization adds.

Finding mail: type in the search box. You can narrow it with from:, to:, subject:, has:attachment, is:unread, before:2026/01/31 and after:2026/01/01.

How much is there: the line above the list says how many conversations you are seeing and how many the folder or search holds, for example "Showing 50 of 1,204". When the count comes from Gmail's or Microsoft's own estimate it says "about"; on a category such as Primary, where only the inbox can be counted, it says how many are in the inbox instead. In All mailboxes the counts of every mailbox are added together.

Fifty at a time: the list loads 50 conversations, and the next 50 as you scroll near the end. If they cannot load (for example, Gmail asks Turtini to slow down), the last row says so with a Retry button. "That's everything" means there is nothing more to load. In All mailboxes the 50 are the newest across all your mailboxes, and Turtini asks each account only for as much as it needs.

Read and unread: opening a conversation marks it read, and the unread counts, the Unread tab and the number in the browser tab drop straight away. For a connected Gmail or Microsoft 365 account, Turtini can only mark it read in Turtini: Gmail or Outlook itself still shows it unread until full sync is turned on. If a new message arrives in that conversation, it is unread again.

Images from the web are hidden until you choose Show images, so a sender cannot tell when you opened their message. Choose Always show from this sender for people you trust.

Keyboard: press ? for the full list. j and k move through conversations, e archives, # moves to Trash, r replies, a replies to all, f forwards, c starts a new message and / jumps to search.

Sizing the panels: drag the seam to the right of the mailbox list or the conversation list to make it wider or narrower. Double-click a seam to switch between the standard and a wide width, or focus it and use the arrow keys; Delete puts it back to the standard width. The sizes are saved to your account as a share of the window, so they follow you to another computer and fit its screen.

If Gmail or Microsoft 365 asks Turtini to slow down, the list says so and tries again on its own after the number of seconds it shows. Nothing is lost while you wait.

Clicking any email address elsewhere in Turtini opens a new message in a window over the page you are on, so you do not lose your place.
