Keep the inbox for people: categories and the Screener

Your inbox opens on Primary. Updates (receipts, orders, sign-in codes), Newsletters (mailing lists and bulk senders) and Notifications (automated mail) are one click away in the bar above the list. Choose All to see everything together.

Categories are stored on the mail server, so phone and desktop mail apps connected to the same mailbox see them too.

To always put one sender somewhere else, open their message and choose Always put in... then the category.

The Screener (Mail settings, under Less noise in the menu on the left):
1. Turn on Screener. It is recommended for a personal mailbox.
2. Mail from someone new goes to Screener as it arrives, so your phone's mail app does not show it in the inbox either. People in your organization, accepted partner organizations, your CRM, vendors and anyone you have written to are never screened, and neither are receipts.
3. Open a message there and press Allow to let that sender in, or Block sender to keep them out. You decide once per sender.

Blocking files that sender's mail in Junk on the mail server, in every app. Unblock anyone from Mail settings.

Read later saves a conversation to its own list. Notifications in Mail settings chooses which categories count toward the unread badge (Primary only, unless you change it) and sets quiet hours.

For a shared mailbox, an organization admin turns the Screener on or off.
