Give a mailbox to a person, and share a group mailbox

Each mailbox belongs to one person in webmail. The person does not need the mailbox address on their Turtini login: you can give someone [email protected] while they keep signing in with a personal address.

To assign one:
1. Open Mail (/mail) and go to the Mailboxes tab.
2. In Assigned to, choose the person. When you create a mailbox, choose them under Who is this for?

A mailbox nobody is assigned to opens only for a member who has verified that exact address on their Turtini account, either as their login or as a verified additional email. The Mailboxes tab shows who that is ("Opens for Jane Lane via verified email"), or that it opens for nobody yet. A matching name never opens a mailbox; when a member's name looks like the address, the tab offers to assign it to them instead.

If webmail says you do not have a mailbox yet: an owner or admin sees the unassigned mailboxes that look like theirs, with Assign to me. Anyone else is shown the address that looks like theirs, so they can ask an admin to assign it.

Once assigned, only that person opens the mailbox in webmail. Reassigning it takes it away from whoever had it, and every assignment is recorded in the mail audit log. Owners and admins manage mailboxes but do not read other people's mail by holding that role.

A group address doubles as a shared mailbox. Everyone on its member list can open it in webmail to see what was sent to the group, and can send as the group address. To stop people sending as it, go to the Groups tab and choose Nobody sends as it for that group.

Every message sent from a shared mailbox, and every change made in one, is recorded in your organization's mail audit log with who did it. The log keeps no subjects or message text.
