Paying by bank — extra verification, holds, and "use another method"

When you pay a loan from your connected bank account, Turtini checks the bank transfer for risk before the money moves (using Plaid Signal). The vast majority go straight through — but occasionally you'll see one of these:

• **"Extra verification needed"** — for your security, confirm it's you before the payment is authorized. Tap **Verify & continue** right there in the payment card. Once verified, the payment is sent. This protects you from someone else pulling money from your account.

• **"This payment is being reviewed"** — the transfer was flagged for a quick check. There's nothing for you to do; it processes automatically once approved. No money has moved yet.

• **"Use a card or a different bank account"** — this usually means the account didn't have enough available balance to cover the payment. Pick a different funding source and try again.

• **"Couldn't be authorized"** — the bank payment was declined. Use a different payment method.

One thing that's always true: **your funds are never made available to the lender before the transfer actually settles.** Turtini holds every bank payment until it clears (typically a few business days), so a payment showing "pending" or "in transit" simply means the ACH is on its way. If a transfer is ever returned, the loan balance is left exactly as if the payment never happened — you're never penalized for the rail. [[feedback_fail_safe_fail_soft_always]]
