Handing off a minor’s profile when they’re ready
When a minor child reaches the age you want them managing their own account — typically 13, 16, or 18, depending on your family's call — you can hand off their profile to them. The handoff copies their data into a new real account they create, and the managed minor profile dissolves.
Step-by-step (guardian):
1. Account → Household.
2. Find the minor's row in Members.
3. Click "Hand off".
4. Enter their email and click "Send handoff".
5. They get an email with a claim link.
Step-by-step (the now-adult):
1. They open the email and click "Claim my profile".
2. If they don't have a Turtini account yet, they sign up with the same email.
3. Once signed in, they click "Claim my profile".
What carries over:
• All their data (personal events, recipes, grocery list, notes, favorites) moves to their new account.
• Their household membership in your household carries over — they stay in the family, just with their own login now.
• The "Minor" badge is dropped; the original managed profile is deleted.
What they get to choose for themselves:
• Whether to share their travel profile back to the household.
• Whether to leave the household later.
• Independent modules, integrations, and the rest of the platform.
If they don't claim within a reasonable time, the handoff invite can be revoked from the guardian's Household tab.
