Mobile photo defect reporting

Defects are the front-line work-order primitive — anyone with a phone can capture an issue and route it to the right engineer in under thirty seconds.

How a crew member files a defect:
1. Open Fleet → Defects on a phone
2. Tap + New defect
3. Snap a photo (or pick from gallery — multi-photo supported)
4. Drop a pin on the deck plan to mark the location
5. Add a short title and pick severity: Routine / Important / Urgent / Critical
6. Pick the discipline — Hull / Mechanical / Electrical / Hotel / Galley / Safety
7. Save — the defect routes to the discipline lead automatically

What happens next:
• The chief engineer (or hotel director / safety officer for non-mechanical) sees the new defect on their dashboard
• They assign an engineer, set a target close-out date, and convert it into a Maintenance work order if it warrants planned downtime
• Photos and pin location stay attached for the full life of the defect

Why deck-plan pinning matters:
On a 300-cabin cruise ship, "leak in passenger area" is useless. "Pinned on Deck 7, Frame 84, port side, bulkhead behind cabin 7142" is actionable in two minutes. Spend the time uploading deck plans for every vessel — it pays back the first time engineering finds the pinpoint without two crew members searching.
