What are Lab Environments?

Lab Environments let you provision short-lived OpenShift clusters on Google Cloud for your customers — for sandboxes, proof-of-concepts, or guided lab sessions.

Each environment is:
• Provisioned on GCP using the OCP IPI installer — real clusters, not simulations
• Billed to your org at GCP cost + 15%
• Set with a TTL (time-to-live) you control — adjustable at any time
• Accessible by your customer via OCP Console and Web Terminal links
• Optionally paired with a Runbook for step-by-step guided validation

When provisioning starts, a Cloud Build job runs the OCP IPI installer (~45 min). The environment card shows a live build progress indicator with a step-by-step breakdown. When ready, the customer automatically receives an email with their console and terminal links.
