Getting started with Commissions

The Commissions module tracks sales rep compensation — plans, assignments, payout calculations, and reporting. It requires the Workforce module to be enabled first.

Enabling Commissions:
1. Settings → Modules → enable Workforce (if not already on)
2. Settings → Modules → enable Commissions
3. Commissions appears in the navigation under Finance

The module has five tabs:
• Entries — individual commission records tied to opportunities
• Plans — commission plan definitions (flat %, tiered, or salary-based)
• Reps — view all reps and their assignments
• Reports — monthly summaries by rep
• Settings — pool rates, retained earnings rate, and GL account mapping

The commission formula:
1. Commission Pool = Gross Profit × pool rate
2. Residual = Gross Profit − transaction costs − commission pool − payroll
3. Retained Earnings = Residual × retained earnings rate
4. Commission = Pool × salary % × tier % × split %
5. Profit Sharing = Retained Earnings × salary % × split %
6. Total Comp = Salary + Commission + Profit Sharing
