Start a build project
To start a new build:
1. /buildos → "+ Start your first build" (or "+ New build" if you already have projects)
2. Fill in:
- Project name (e.g. "123 Maple St — Smith residence")
- Project type (single-family, multi-family, remodel, commercial, etc.)
- Site address
- Owner / customer name + contact info
- Original contract sum and retainage %
- Start date and substantial completion date
3. Click "Create build project"
The project starts in pre-construction status. From there you can:
• Add subcontractors as bids come in
• File daily field reports
• Log RFIs and submittals
• Draft change orders when scope changes
• Bill the owner with AIA G702/G703 pay applications
• Track lien waivers as draws clear
• Pull the building permits the job site needs — the Permits tab names each authority, what they want, and drafts your intro email
If you have the Planning module on, link a Planning project for full Gantt + EVM scheduling.
If you have the Property module on, link a Property record so the asset history (IoT, work orders, warranties) follows the property to the new owner at sale.
