Starting a site from a template + live inheritance
Templates are the fastest way to launch a new Builder site. Pick a template, give your new site a name, and Builder copies the entire snapshot — theme, pages, blocks — into a fresh Website doc you own.
Where to find templates:
• Builder → "+ New Site" → Templates tab — shows templates your org owns or has subscribed to
• Marketplace → Templates tab — browse every public template and install one (free immediately, paid via Stripe Checkout)
Creating a site from a template:
1. Pick a template from one of the lists above
2. Enter a name for your new site
3. Click "Create" — you're dropped into the Builder editor for the new site
Live inheritance:
By default, sites created from a template have "Inherit updates" turned ON. When the template author publishes a new version, your site receives the update automatically:
• Existing pages from the template are refreshed (your local edits to those template pages are overwritten — that's the point of inheritance)
• Pages the author added are created on your site
• Pages the author removed are removed from your site
• Pages YOU created on your own (with no link to the template) are left alone — local pages always survive a sync
To stop receiving updates:
Open your site → Settings → toggle "Inherit updates" off. Your site keeps everything as it is now and stops syncing. You can also detach completely, which clears the template link entirely.
Subscriptions vs. installs:
• Free templates: one-click install, no subscription record needed
• Paid templates: subscription is active while you're paying. Cancelling stops renewal but does NOT delete your site — you just stop getting updates.
