Look up a ship's details
Beyond a ship's position on the map, Beacon can show you a rich record for the vessel itself — who it is, what it is, and what it looks like.
To see a ship's details:
1. Open Beacon (/beacon) and tap a ship on the map, or find one by name, MMSI, or IMO (see "Beacon — find any ship by name, MMSI, or IMO").
2. Its detail card opens with the vessel's full record.
What you'll see:
• Identity — name, IMO and MMSI numbers, call sign, and flag.
• Particulars — the ship's type/class and physical facts (size, build, and the like) where known.
• Ownership — the operator or owner on record, when available.
• Photos — a moderated, community-contributed photo of the vessel, with its credit.
The record is drawn from open maritime data; some fields may be blank for newer or smaller vessels. Anyone can add a photo (see "Contribute a vessel photo").
