Turtini

Following a publisher who covers your beat

Article Sources lets you follow the outlets covering your world. Turtini reads a publisher's own RSS feed, filters it to the topics you cover, and collects the matches for your editor. Nothing publishes on its own.

Adding a source:
1. Articles -> Sources (the tab appears once Article Sources is turned on in the module directory)
2. Enter the publisher's name and the URL of their RSS feed. Most sites link one from the footer, or at /feed or /rss.
3. List the topics you cover, comma separated - "ferry, transit, waterfront". An item has to match at least one to reach your queue.
4. Optionally list terms to skip, like "obituary" or "sponsored". Those beat the topics.
5. Click Check feed. Turtini fetches it and shows the most recent items, with a filled dot beside the ones your topics currently match, so you can adjust the topics before saving anything.
6. Click Add source. Turtini reads it once straight away and tells you how many stories queued.

Why the check has to pass first: a source in your list should always be one that works. If the feed cannot be read, or the publisher's robots.txt asks automated readers to stay away, Turtini refuses to add it rather than adding a source that quietly never returns anything.

Turtini re-reads each source on a schedule after that, so new stories arrive without you doing anything.
