Adding an animal to the collection

Open **Zoos & Aquariums** (/zoo) → the **Collection** tab → **+ New animal**. Enter the common name (required), scientific name, house name, sex, group, and optionally a studbook / ZIMS ID and enclosure.

The animal becomes a canonical record. If you ever transfer it to another institution, its full history — studbook lineage, veterinary records, diet plans — follows the animal; nothing is copied.

Tip: an admin can pre-populate a starter collection from **Wally** ("seed my aquarium collection") on first setup.
