Fields, plantings, and crop rotation
A field is a polygon on the map anchored to your org — set acreage, boundary, centroid, soil type, irrigation method, and link it to a Property record if the land sits inside one.
A planting is what's actually in the ground right now — crop kind, variety, seed source and lot, planted-at date, the GDD base (°F) for that crop, the accumulated growing-degree-days the daily scheduler keeps current, and a status (growing / harvested / abandoned). One field can carry one active planting at a time.
Crop rotation:
Every field carries a rotation history — the last ten years of crops, year by year. When you add a new planting, the system warns if the new crop is in the same plant family as the prior year's — same-family replant invites disease pressure, and the warning is your chance to think again before planting it.
Fields, plantings, and crop history are editor-or-admin to create/update; delete is admin-only. Plantings can be created by any org member (a field hand logging "we got the corn in this morning" doesn't need editor role).
