Chart of Accounts

The Chart of Accounts (CoA) is the foundation of your general ledger. Every financial transaction is posted to one or more accounts from this list.

Account types:
• Assets — things your org owns (cash, receivables, equipment)
• Liabilities — things your org owes (payables, loans)
• Equity — the owners' stake (retained earnings, capital)
• Revenue — income earned
• Expenses — costs incurred

Each account has a numeric code, name, and sub-type. System accounts (seeded automatically) are marked with a "system" label and cannot be deleted.

To add a custom account:
1. Go to Accounting → Chart of Accounts
2. Click "+ Add Account"
3. Enter the account code, name, type, and sub-type
4. Click "Add Account"

To edit an account name: click the pencil icon on the row, update the name, and click Save.

Accounts used in journal entries or transactions cannot be deleted — deactivate them instead to keep historical data intact.
